The Community Foundation of Otsego County, NY is dedicated to improving all lives in our community. The Community Foundation of Otsego County (CFOC) was formed in 2019. We are a community-driven public philanthropy that reflects the needs and aspirations of our citizenry, and are dedicated to imaginative new ideas, collaboration, inclusion, respect, integrity, and accountability. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and prosperity for all who live in Otsego County. We act in partnership with existing strong nonprofits but are willing to support smaller newer organizations as well – encouraging them to imagine and innovate new approaches to meet community issues. We believe that we represent our community and therefore we listen carefully when setting our priorities.  Currently, we are focusing on meeting basic human needs including food insecurity, affordable housing, health care, mental health, addiction care, child care, and transportation. A second priority is community and economic development. We have our marching orders for the foreseeable future. After a year and half the Foundation is positioned to take a significant step forward. Founded and primarily operated thus far by volunteers, including a board of widely respected community leaders, we now seek a full-time Executive Director to lead the Foundation. The Foundation is searching for a rare type of leader. We see our first Executive Director as a transformational leader who grows and guides the Foundation to a vibrant and secure future; who builds relationships with donors, with nonprofit award recipients, and across the broad community that benefits from the awards; who becomes part of the heart and soul of our community, exhibits a passion for our mission, and is deeply committed to improving lives. Our first Executive Director will expand existing volunteer efforts, build relationships and work closely with our board, and become immersed in our community. This individual will have the ability to find and cultivate donors and develop future prospects, while bringing many different people from many different walks of life together to further our cause. Our expectations are high.  We are looking for appropriate education, experience, skill, and drive – as well as an unshakeable belief in our shared humanity. Having a passion about our work and the ability to harness the passion of others are critical attributes.  Past experiences demonstrating successful management skills are important but need not be directly related to community foundations. We are looking for excellent communications skills paired with public outreach ability. We expect the Executive Director to live in Otsego County and vigorously engage in the life of our community.
